I work primarily in oil on canvas, creating works that range from impressionistic interpretations of land and sea life to contemporary figurative compositions.
Across these subjects, my practice is guided by a belief that all people are united in spirit and deeply connected to the natural world.
My aim is to convey this shared humanity and sense of interconnectedness, regardless of theme or setting.
My subject matter draws from dream imagery, travel, and quiet observation of everyday life, such as watching people during walks or while sitting in a cafe.
Each piece is original in conception, with select works created through commissioned projects.
“Like the spirit, art never dies, and we artists live among the colors on the canvas.” – S M Hayes

The artwork behind the altar features a white circle symbolizing the host broken for us, with Christ at the center of the image and rays of light radiating from his body, symbolizing his spirit reaching out to all of mankind. The design incorporates colors representing the earth, water, and sky, over which he reigns, along with a splash of red depicting the blood he shed for us. When the priest elevates the host and chalice during the Eucharist service, the artwork can be seen as a visual extension of these sacred actions.

About The Artwork
This contemporary figurative oil painting is the artists vision of "The Ascension" and depicts Christ being lifted up into the heavens by a band of singing angels.
A white cross illuminates throughout the painting, as a transparent symbol and reminder that "He has risen!"
The black background is the darkness that he is being lifted out of. His wounds have been healed, but you can see the exhaustion in his expression.
This is a highly textured painting which was created in layers over the course of seven years.
$33,000 is the recreation value
This one of a kind oil painting will be exhibited and sold with all proceeds being donated
